March 8, 2024 | No to the neutralization of anti-violence centers

"In Italy, one in three women suffers or has suffered some form of violence and anti-violence centres D.i.Re – Donne in Rete contro la violenza they welcome around 21.000 every year. A dramatic fact that reminds us that fighting for women's rights also means planning a future free from violence.

The anti-violence centers D.i.Re I'm always on the front line. Places of listening, welcome and support, where women can escape the spiral of violence and start a new, free and autonomous life.

On the occasion of International Women's Rights Day, D.i.Re wants to reiterate that violence has a gender.

The activities to combat it, therefore, must be designed and implemented taking into account this specificity, with the valorisation of the experience of the anti-violence centers and their activists, with attention to the risk of neutralization of these political reception places, which the policies nationals are emerging” declares Antonella Veltri, president D.i.Re - Women on the Net against violence

"Prevention activities must be designed in collaboration with those who know this phenomenon, so structurally rooted in our society: the anti-violence centers that have been working alongside women, in society and with institutions for decades to combat it. We expect a concrete position to be taken from the institutions: the publication of the National Anti-Violence Plan, which has now expired since last December. These are certainly not sensational sporadic actions that will be able to make a difference in the process of eliminating male violence against women” concludes the president.
