The voice of women at CSW68

The 68 session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) concludes today in New York, whose priority theme this year was that "accelerate the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective"

Even this year D.i.Re, as an organization with Ecosoc consultative status and represented by Claudia Pividori, an expert from the international group, took part in this important global meeting, bringing the voice of anti-violence centers and shelters committed to supporting women in ways of escaping violence, including Also theaccompaniment towards economic and financial autonomy.

The CSW represented an important and stimulating opportunity for D.i.Re to follow a wide range of meetings, round tables, interactive dialogues, ministerial round tables and side meetings organized by civil society organisations.

Significant meetings were dedicated to examining poverty as a barrier to escape from violence, the care economy and social protection systems, the autonomy of women as a precondition for gender equality, the prevention of violence and harassment in places of Work.

Of particular importance was the event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the UN special procedure on violence against women, with the participation of all the Special Rapporteurs, who outlined the challenges and future prospects of this mechanism for protecting women's right to live freely from violence.

The participation of D.i.Re at CSW it took place in close connection and synergy with other Italian society organisations, with the European Wave network and the global GNWS (Global network of Women's Shelters) network.
The CSW is indeed an important opportunity to strengthen and create new bonds of transnational solidarity and sisterhood.
