This decision is emblematic of the ignorance and persistence of many stereotypes, even in the mindset of some justice professionals who, even today, fail to recognize male violence against women. If we still believe that any choice a woman makes can justify an attack, it means we must begin by clarifying the origins of violence: it is precisely this way of thinking and judging women's experiences that fuels it. It is time to understand what discriminatory hatred in the relationship between genders actually is.
