2023 | Thanks to the funds Eight per Thousand of the Waldensian Church D.i.Re continues to offer its members a look at what is happening at a European and international level regarding the issue of violence against women. Currently, within the institutions of the European Union, two initiatives are underway that are particularly relevant to our daily commitment in the fight against violence. This is a proposal for a specific European Directive on violence against women and a revision of the already existing Directive on the rights of victims of crime (Victim Rights Directive).

During 2023, we will focus on two main objectives. The first concerns the training of the operators, activists and lawyers involved in anti-violence centres, addressing issues related to women's rights and the discrimination they suffer. The second objective consists in thenestablish stable collaboration networks with other organizations operating at national and European level on these issues, promoting the sharing of knowledge and identification of common objectives to be pursued in advocacy activities.

Among the experts from the civil society of feminist women who will lead the training interventions are Eliana Jimeno - in the WAVE team she coordinates the awareness and advocacy campaigns - and Irene Zeilinger - sociologist, founder of Garance, a Belgian non-profit organization that fights against gender violence through primary prevention. Together with them Sara De Vido, associate professor of international law at the Cà Foscari University of Venice, where she is also the Rector's delegate for gender equality.
