D.i.Re – Donne in Rete contro la violenza has long been identifying a dangerous drift for women in anti-violence policies in Italy: the attempt to neutralize activities for the prevention and fight against male violence against women.
"This is a risk that is becoming a reality. There is a continuous increase in the number of neutral places that – without an approach based on the experience of anti-violence centers – are welcoming women in situations of abuse or violence.” declares Antonella Veltri, president D.i.Re - Women on the Net against violence. "For this reason, we have chosen to bring to the attention of the institutions, which are involved in various capacities in the anti-violence system, our observations on the State-Regions Agreement, the instrument that should dictate the best conditions for women.” continues Veltri. “We do this starting from the competence and the conviction that some positions are detrimental to the real fight against violence.” concludes the president.
The announced changes of the State-Regions Agreement of 14 September 2022 concern several aspects that represent, according to the experience of D.i.King dangerously, a step backwards in the path of prevention and contrast of male violence towards women. In fact, these changes implement requirements and methods aimed at marginalizing and weakening the role of anti-violence centers that over time, based on the direct experience in the paths of exit from violence of the women welcomed have designed and implemented prevention actions.
Attached is a summary sheet of just two of the critical issues identified, on which the D. Network.i.Re intends to clarify and which he warns are threatening and dangerous: one because it broadens the audience of the subjects enabled and authorized to access funds, effectively denying and formally neutralizing the peculiarity and specificity of the anti-violence centers, their experience and competence; the other to focus attention on the obligation of 24/XNUMX availability for the anti-violence centers in the complete absence of an adequate system to deal with the emergency and without any economic recognition of the work carried out by the activists who would be burdened with work responsibilities without salary adjustment.
