PRESS RELEASE
Rape bill: permanent mobilization and widespread demonstrations.
Let's spread the fight tothe erasure of women's rights
and to the regression of society as a whole.
Yesterday, January 28, 2026, D.i.Re – Donne in Rete contro la violenza he called to action in a public meeting people and organizations interested in oppose the approval of the so-called bill rapes.
In light of President Bongiorno's proposal to amend Article 609 bis of the Criminal Code—approved on January 27th by the Justice Committee—we, along with all the organizations and women engaged in this fight, felt the urgency of opening a public space for discussion and political development.
"Consent is not a legal formula to be rewritten: it is a right, it is self-determination, it is freedom. Any attempt to weaken its meaning produces serious setbacks in the protection of women and those most exposed to violence," said Cristina Carelli, president of the D..i.Re – Women on the Net against violence.
This is why yesterday's large turnout (around 500 people connected) was so significant.
A permanent state of mobilization and the organization of a widespread demonstration have been agreed upon. which will see over 100 active squares on February 15th: In the coming days, various initiatives will be announced, inviting all those interested in countering the cultural drift underlying this bill. This will help us—once again—build a society that values the self-determination and freedom of all.
