This is a field study on the processes that lead to judicial decisions on child custody in cases of domestic violence. “Domestic abusers have for too long monopolised debate in the family justice system. He declares the teacher Choudgames. "First, some research has shown that when abusers are able to shift judges' attention from assessing domestic violence allegations, and from careful risk assessment, to the consideration of pseudo-scientific concepts such as parental alienation, abuse domestic workers can disappear from the procedural framework" continues Choudhry. "Second, by monopolizing the human rights debate, abusers are able to to defend successfully uphold their right to family life, excluding the right of women and children to be safe from violence and abuse. I hope this research will help women and children regain control of the debate and claim their human rights.” concludes the professor."

Shazia Choudhry will discuss the topic with Italian research expertsThe importance of the results brought just over a month ago il Council of Europe a call the teacherssafor present the research to the ECHR judges and GREVIO experts.” concludes the lawyer.
