FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF THE COMPETITION, THE SYMBOL OF THE CAMPAIGN WILL BE PRESENT ON THE RACE BIB.
Cortina d'Ampezzo, 18 January 2018 - "Stop violence against women and girls": a strong message that will come from Cortina and from the athletes competing in the stage of the Ski World Cup. In fact, for the first time in the history of the Circo Rosa, on the bibs there will be a message of awareness against violence against women in support of the Association D.i.Re, Women on the net against violence.
Sport and champions are an important vehicle for these messages thanks to their being positive symbols and especially followed by fans. Often, great athletes are also great communicators of values that unite.
“The support of the ski athletes is for all of us D.i.Re, Women on the net against violence, a very meaningful gift that we are truly grateful for”, Says Lella Palladino, sociologist and current president of the National Association D.i.Re, Women on the net against violence. "The support and visibility that ski champions offer a D.i.Re it is all the more precious, because unfortunately the life of the anti-violence centers continually faces a lack of resources, to the point that many centers - especially in the most difficult areas - live above all thanks to the voluntary commitment of the women who founded and manage them ”, concludes Lella Palladino.
D.i.Re gathers at present 80 women's associations in 18 Italian regions, which they manage about a hundred reception centers, shelters, assistance services, counseling and psychological and legal support. All the centers work to enable women who have been subjected to violence to rebuild their lives and not run into violent relationships again in the future. Alongside this work, essential for dealing with the emergency, there is also all the intense and widespread work in society: awareness campaigns, training courses, research, collaboration with institutions. This cultural work is fundamental, because it is in society that that change of perspective in the relationships between men and women is built that really helps to prevent violence.
