PRESS RELEASE
Enough demagogy at the expense of women.
D.i.Re – Women in Network Against Violence skips the hearing
in the Justice Committee on the Femicide Bill
After having participated in the hearing on June 12 and having presented a detailed document with specific observations, D.i.Re – Donne in Rete contro la violenza (Women in Network Against Violence) has decided not to participate in the hearing held today, October 21, 2025, before the Senate Justice Committee on the Femicide Bill. This bill will not lead to real and concrete change, especially given the persistent budget inconsistency, which makes necessary training initiatives virtually impossible.
"They cannot ask us to analyse the text of the crime of femicide, while they prohibit any possibility of educating the new generations, effectively preventing the possibility of implementing real preventive action." declares Cristina Carelli, president of D.i.Re - Women on the Net against violence. "There is an evident contradiction which highlights how the real intention is not to fight violence against women, but only to punish when the deed is done.” continues Carelli. “All this risks giving the wrong impression: the phenomenon can't be addressed if we intervene with "remedial" measures that only serve to target public opinion. Repairing damage that will continue to be repeated. We don't want to participate in this demagogy. Someone will be given a medal they don't deserve.” concludes the president.
