PRESS RELEASE

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF.i.Re:

ELECTION OF THE NEW ELECTIVE BODIES OF THE ASSOCIATION

In a well attended assembly, D.i.Re - Donne in Rete against violence has renewed the members of the elected bodies, who will coordinate the organization of the Association for the next three years.

Christine Carelli, general coordinator of the Shelter for Abused Women in Milan, has been elected president by majority and will be assisted by the Board of Directors, composed of: Anna Agosta, Simona Ammerata, Marta Buti, Etelina Carri, Elisa Forfori, Francesca Maur, Luisanna Porcu, Mariangela Zanni.

To complete the organs of the Association, they were elected Clarice Carassi, Maria Gianquinto and Marzia Giovannini as components of the College of Guarantors.

"I am proud and honored to be part of the board of an association that is history, current affairs and future for the movement that has always been committed to women's freedom" declares the newly elected president of D.i.Re – Women in Network against Violence Cristina Carelli. “We are a collective that aims to give strength to every local anti-violence center and to all women.” continues Carelli. “Days of great commitment await us to affirm the right of women to decide for their own lives, especially in this historical phase in which a reactionary and denialist thought is attacking our fundamental rights.” concludes the president.

The assembly was also an opportunity for an active discussion on the future of the association: many interventions by members expressed concern for the socio-political situation that increasingly puts women's rights and freedom at risk, areas that have always been protected by the political interventions of the National Association.
