PRESS RELEASE
Consistency is a guarantee for women welcomed by anti-violence centers and it is rarely free:
Artemisia expelled from the Net D.i.Re for violation of the Statute.
After a painful and shared journey, Artemisia, one of the founding members of D.i.Re – Donne in Rete contro la violenza, was expelled from the National Network for violating the Statute.
"The women of the national assembly decided by majority – with 7 abstentions and no votes against – not to accept Artemisia's appeal and to proceed with the expulsion" declares Cristina Carelli, president of D.i.Re - Women on the Net against violence. "Artemisia has chosen to open the association to men. A legitimate choice, but in conflict with the Statute of D.i.Re: among the criteria for admission and maintenance of the status of member of D.i.Re The Statute provides that organizations must be women-only” continues Carelli. “The path that led us to this decision was neither easy nor straightforward. Ours is a feminist collective, built and continuing to shape itself through discussion. This is how we can look to the future together, without uprooting an important identity with a simple acknowledgement.” concludes the president.
Change is part of the history of the National Network D.i.Re, without impositions, in the free choice of all.
