Another March 8th of struggle, another March 8th that cannot celebrate women's rights, constantly under attack.
"It's incredible how, in 2026, we still have to talk about protecting women's rights." declares Cristina Carelli, president D.i.Re – Donne in Rete contro la violenza. "We continue to reiterate the urgency of stopping the Bongiorno bill for the amendment to article 609bis of the Criminal Code which affects a fundamental right of women: the freedom to choose whether and when to have sexual intercourse.” continues Carelli. “We've chosen to launch an information campaign on the potential consequences of this bill on March 8th, so there's no going back. Women must never be forced to prove they resisted, that they said no. Those who support them every day in their journey to escape violence can explain exactly why this bill must be stopped.” concludes the president.
D.i.Re – Women in Network Against Violence is launching a mini-information campaign that discusses the potential consequences of implementing this amendment to the Criminal Code from the perspective of those who—on a daily basis and in practice—help women deal with the consequences of violence and, unfortunately, still too often, secondary victimization following reports.
To draw attention to the constant underestimation of women's lives, this year too D.i.Re – Women in Network Against Violence joins the feminist and transfeminist strike Our lives are worth it, called by the Non Una Di Meno movement.
